If you re-read my article, what I said was that I had no problem with Ellen forgiving George W. Bush or befriending him. What I said is that it was not her place to tell everyone that in order to be a nice person you have to forgive people who have harmed you or attempted to harm you. I believe that comes from a place of condescension and enormous privilege. And I never blamed Fox News or Donald Trump for George W. Bush or Ellen or me or anyone. What I said is that they have both stoked hate speech and bigotry across the board with their rhetoric.

George W. Bush’s intolerance involves depriving minority rights. My supposed intolerance is not forgiving him for doing so (at least yet, if he actually apologized for it I probably would). These are hardly equal intolerances. I have no problem defending any of my claims in this article.
